Ok, this is a pretty famous one, but we'll share it anyway: back in 2003, prior to the release of Madonna's 9th studio album "American Life" (it's its 10th anniversary soon!), the singer and her team wanted to prevent illegal download of the material. So what did they do?
They created a number of false song files of similar length and size as the actual songs from he album and posted them on various P2P sites. Some of these files delivered a brief message from Madonna saying "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" followed by minutes of silence.

A hacker decided to take revenge on Madonna, so he hacked her website and posted a message stating "This is what the fuck I think I'm doing..." followed by download links for each of the album's songs.
The website was closed after the attack for about 15 hours. Huh!
