Madonna to perform Superbown halftime?

Madonna will perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show. Fansite SB Nation reported Monday that unnamed NFL sources had confirmed the "Material Girl" singer will entertain football fans at the NFL championship game, to be held Feb. 5 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The Black Eyed Peas played the halftime show at last year's title game, watched by over 111 million viewers.
The high-profile gig has gained notoriety after the infamous 2004 "wardrobe malfunction" that resulted in Justin Timberlake exposing Janet Jackson's breast to a live worldwide television audience. The NFL has not issued a comment and Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, tells Billboard.com that there is "nothing to confirm or deny at this time."
This wouldn't be the first time Madonna has been in the mix with the Super Bowl. Back in January of 2000, she was slated to perform her then-new single "American Pie" at the Jan. 30 Super Bowl XXXIV halftime show. However, she quickly pulled out of the gig a few days later, due to it conflicting with her recording schedule. In a statement at the time, Madonna said that she was "sorry" and expressed "sincere apologies" to the NFL. She added: "I look forward to the possibility of doing something with the NFL in the future."
